James Caillouette, MD
Welcome!
Motion is life. Motion helps us to define ourselves. A loss of mobility
is often viewed as a loss of freedom and independence. As an Orthopedic
Surgeon, my expertise is in the restoration of mobility. My area of specialty
interest and training is Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement. My
goal is to restore your mobility and freedom to perform the activities
of life that make your life enjoyable. I use a variety of treatment methods
from non-operative to operative depending on what is best for each individual.
I look forward to helping you return to an active life.
As an adult reconstructive surgeon in private practice, I perform over
500 hip and knee replacements and over 100 knee arthroscopies annually. Over the past thirty years,
I have grown my solo physician private practice into a 20-physician group
based in Newport Beach,California and currently serve as the elected Chairman
of the Newport Orthopedic Institute. In addition, I was elected to serve
as the first Surgeon in Chief and Chief of Staff of the Hoag Orthopedic
Institute, a joint venture Orthopedic Specialty Hospital that opened in
2010. Since 1989, I have been involved in the research, design, development
and commercialization of numerous orthopaedic devices including a novel
ultrasonic cement removal system, two separate hip prostheses, software
and instrumentation for Computer-Assisted Knee Surgery, as well as the
instrumentation for a next generation total knee system. I hold eleven
US patents as co-inventor for biomedical products and methods, and have
two patents pending. I have taught and continue to teach the techniques
of minimally invasive, muscle sparing hip and knee replacement to surgeons
on a weekly basis.
